Necroblast
Necroblast is a retro pixel-art arena survival FPS set in a grim, whimsical dark fantasy world. Face relentless waves of undead horrors. Rattling skeletons, hellhounds, hulking zombies, and feral werewolves, as you fight to survive one minute longer.
Weapons spawn over time across the battlefield, offering a shifting arsenal of eccentric firepower: a crackling musket pistol, a roaring blunderbuss, an arcane plasma grenade caster, and a clanking, steam-driven rotary gun. Combat is fast, chaotic, and drenched in pixelated decay.
It's survival through fire, creepy, stylish, and full of rot.

Mashing up Serious Sam's Arena Shooter gameplay with Doom's oldschool sprite-based graphics is an interesting design choice. (Then again, after playing it, I feel like maybe your influence was more along the lines of Devil Daggers?)
Either way, the aiming didn't suffer nearly as much as I would have expected, from the shift from mesh-based enemies to sprite-based ones. (probably because I was constantly running backwards?) Collision with trees and such was annoying, but I got used to sliding past them, after a while.
What I couldn't get used to was the slow attack speeds. I highly suggest removing or shrinking the gun smoke, and reducing the time between shots and melee attacks. You have tons of enemies, so this Dark Souls attack speed makes no sense.
Just as I was starting to think maybe this was Vampire Survivors in 3D (but with no weapon upgrades,) I backpeddled over the edge of the map into oblivion. You don't need to make the ground loop forever, if that's too difficult for you, but at least put a solid wall of some sort at the edge there so the player doesn't automatically die.
Good luck developing this concept further. It occupies an unusual place between oldschool and modern FPS sensibilities. There's definitely potential, here.
Also, excellent use of color! 👍
Love the feedback. Love all those games. Mostly Hexen / Doom, but wanted to do a more pop dark fantasy vibe with this one. Yes the trees have a weird thing I tried to implement to prevent breaking the game by standing on top of meshes, but yeah buggy, would have been fine without it.
For speeds, usually like gameplay pacing to escalate over time, so wanted to start the slow pistol to be sort of a base weapon / bad last resort, but never got around to implement enough intense weapons to speed up gameplay later.
With enough support, probably would have gone the vampire survivors route with my own take on it. I suppose the ground part is part of the risk but yeah it was an easy solution :\ Appreciate, definitely could scale this, but some of my prospects fizzled with this one. But yeah, definitely has a vision!
Nice little game! Would love to gain some upgrades or new weapons!
Also a online highscore would be nice!
Definitely want to add way more stuff, coming soon!
